Donald Trump's win in November is calling attention to a great number of US policies that will likely change, in varying degrees, over the coming years. Healthcare, energy policy, immigration, and a host of other issues will be addressed, though a balance between campaign promises and reality will temper expectations of exactly how much change will occur. Change is also on the horizon for the U.S. national defense policy, but the impacts on the Department of Defense, and the consultants that work for them, may not be what is expected under a Republican administration.
Sequestration and the withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan under the Obama Administration, among other factors, led to notable cuts in defense spending in key areas, causing the DoD to review their overhead costs with a shrewd eye and continue the mantra "do more with less" that leaders in the Department had increasingly become accustomed to.
