Type of Work: Pro Bono Client: Matthews HELP Center
Apparo, a Charlotte-based organization that connects nonprofits with technology solutions, worked with Centric Consulting and Matthews HELP Center on a Salesforce Optimization project.
Matthews HELP Center (MHC) brings communities together to help neighbors in crisis by providing a bridge of short-term assistance for life essentials including food, clothing, shelter and transportation. They had obtained Salesforce CRM but needed assistance implementing all their client, donor and volunteer data from various databases into this one centralized portal, as well as configuring the platform to coordinate with their processes and doing that development, says Kim Lanphear, CEO of Apparo.
“This was transformational for MHC as they could more effectively market, manage resources, data, reporting, fundraising events and create metrics,” she says.
This project partnered skilled volunteers from Centric Consulting with Matthews HELP Center to optimize the organization’s Salesforce platform. Centric Consulting is a business consulting and technology solutions firm providing full-service management consulting services. Piedmont Natural Gas, the provider for more than a million residential and business customers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, provided funding for this project.
The project was completed successfully and has resulted in undeniable process improvement throughout the organization, she says. Equally important, the project has positioned MHC to effectively serve more local residents.
Apparo’s pro bono programs help future-focused corporations leverage employee skills and talents, going beyond traditional employee engagement to the leadership development and team-building that empower recruitment, retention, and innovation, Lanphear says. “Through these partnerships, we are able to serve as a catalyst for change on a large scale. Our partnership with Centric Consulting and Matthews HELP Center was a shining example of this community engagement creating community wins.”
Apparo and Centric teammates had the privilege of learning more about the unique challenges many nonprofits face and gained a real appreciation for their creativity and ingenuity, she says. “The opportunity also allowed Centric teammates to periodically work side-by-side in a manner that is different from the day-to-day work. It’s rewarding for teammates to work together while pursuing their passion for giving back to the community.”
One of Centric Consulting’s core values is to ignite passion for the greater good. “We’ve found that partnering with Apparo allows us to most effectively align our passions with the missions of area nonprofits,” says Dave Rosevelt, CEO of Centric Consulting. “Apparo simplifies and streamlines the entire volunteer process, from clearly understanding the needs of the nonprofit, to facilitating the initial discussion, to defining expectations and success criteria, to managing the ongoing project.”
Q&A: What does winning a Social & Community Investment award mean to you, your firm and your employees?
Lanphear: “It is an incredible honor to receive this award. We stand beside other recipients who have delivered incredible impact locally, nationally and globally. Seeing this power of community and realizing that it is us and yet also bigger than us, is both humbling and rewarding. We are extremely grateful for this honor.”
