Jason Bomers is the executive in charge of Crowe Horwath’s Banking Performance group, which provides Advisory Services, Information Management, Performance Management and Customer Management solutions to financial institutions. As Crowe’s Performance Consulting Financial Services practice leader, Bomers has more than 20 years of management consulting experience with technology and operational consulting, strategic planning, systems implementation and process improvement with an overall focus on improving business results.
He’s been doing just that for the last several years since overseeing the formation of this new focus area. Revenue has more than tripled since its formation in 2009, with the last three fiscal years recording an average growth rate of 34 percent. His use of innovation in technology has been a key growth driver, with software and technology licenses, maintenance and support representing a significant portion of the practice’s revenue.
“I am most proud of building Crowe’s Financial Services Performance Consulting group. Over the past eight years, we have assembled a team of professionals and technology solutions which focus on addressing critical issues for our banking and insurance clients,” he says.
Over the past 12 months, his team has launched multiple new solutions into the market including its Crowe Financial Data Automation platform and Crowe Credit360—Stress Testing solution.
Additionally, he says, the team has taken another one of its solutions—Crowe Credit Portfolio Analyzer—into the insurance sector. “I am very proud of my team’s ability to innovate and discover new ways we can add value to our clients’ business,” Bomers says.
It’s no surprise then that Bomers points to those around him when he talks about the biggest keys to his success.
“Consulting is a people-centric business and it’s the quality of those people, their knowledge, their integrity and the quality of their work that ultimately determines the firm’s success. I am fortunate to work with many of the best and brightest in the business,” Bomers says. “The biggest factor to my success has been the people around me; both my colleagues at Crowe and the clients we serve.”
And it’s serving those clients that motivates Bomers to excel. “The thing that keeps me going is ‘moving the needle’ for our clients,” he says. “We are brought in to help them solve problems and improve their business performance, and the most satisfying part of my job is seeing the impact we have in helping our clients succeed.”
And that success is one of the biggest reasons Bomers is being recognized this year as one of the profession’s Top 25 Consultants.
“Winning the Top 25 award is the result of our entire team’s dedication to serving our clients with excellence, and is an affirmation that we are making a difference in our industry,” he says. “I am humbled and honored to receive this Top 25 award.”
Q&A: What do you enjoy most about your job and the consulting profession?
Bowers: “What drew me to the consulting profession, and has kept me in it for the past 25 years, is its dynamic nature and the constant challenge to keep learning and growing.”
