Nathan Uldricks

Booz Allen Hamilton Excellence in Operations Management Age: 32

Nathan Uldricks is one of Booz Allen Hamilton’s go-to leaders and experts for the Operations Management service line.

With a degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, a (nearly completed) MBA from the University of Virginia, and 10 years of experience, Nathan brings in-depth operations expertise and excellence to his clients.

For one client, the COO of a mid-sized government agency, Uldricks identified a major process improvement opportunity. He conceptualized, pitched, designed, and led an agency-wide effort to modernize the client’s operations, transforming the client’s processes from paper-based to electronic.

Uldricks says he’s proud of the relationships he’s built with clients and colleagues and says he puts a premium on listening closely and empathetically, which is a key ingredient to building lasting relationships.

“I’m proud that I’ve been able to forge strong, trusting relationships with my clients, who come to me to help them solve some of their most complex and challenging problems, and with my colleagues, especially the junior ones, who I’ve been able to mentor and help grow in their professional, and personal, lives,” he says. “I cherish the relationship-side of the business.”

Uldricks says his career philosophy is to be a teacher and a mentor—that’s the most exciting part of his career. “Mentoring has always been a big aspect of my life, so ever since I started my career I’ve been building, growing, leading and participating in firm-wide mentorship programs,” he says.

“I’ve been lucky enough to teach several different classes—particularly on operations-related topics—during my time at Booz Allen. And my approach when leading a large client engagement is to educate and mentor the client team, whether on a learning a new process or system. I’m a teacher and mentor at heart.”
