TCG Consulting is the global leader for independent strategic management consulting services to help organizations transform, integrate and optimize their global Corporate Travel, Meetings, Payment and Expense Management programs. Consulting caught up with Albert Taras, Founder and CEO of TCG Consulting, to discuss the firm’s 178 percent growth rate and No. 18 ranking.
Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm’s exceptional growth?
Taras: TCG saw early signs of a shifting marketplace and client needs in the Corporate Travel, Meetings, Payment and Expense Management industry as far back as 2009. The leadership team developed a long term plan and strategic roadmap to shift our focus and evolve our business & delivery model to address these needs. We have remained committed to this path and have seen successful results in these early stages, but there is still much to be done.
Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?
Taras: We are on track for another record year in 2016, with revenue growth projected between 30 percent to 45 percent. We have been asked to support many new Global 1000 leaders in both traditional travel work—air, hotel etc.—as well as broader strategic initiatives emanating from the C-level which span multiple internal stakeholder groups—HR, IT, Treasury, Travel, Risk, Legal, Procurement, etc.—supported by an integrated approach leveraging most or all TCG practices over a multi-year timeframe.
Consulting: How would you describe your firm’s outlook for 2017? Where do you see the most opportunities?
Taras: The industry is seeking innovative ways to both integrate and optimize their programs in a continued sellers’ market as traditional sourcing based strategies are delivering diminished returns. We see TCG as very well positioned globally to deliver this innovation and drive record growth in 2017. Our strategic Integration of Travel Meetings Payment & Expense via our Transformative Pillars methodology has gained significant traction in the market. In addition, our partial or comprehensive Outsourced Program Management services are addressing an increasing number of client’s needs.
Consulting: What would you say are your firm’s biggest challenges in 2017?
Taras: Managing continued growth as well as how best to allocate incremental resources across seven global practices, many international markets and our Global Business Services Center. There are many initiatives and opportunities we want to tackle. The key is how we take “rocks out of our backpacks” and only focus on those delivering the highest ROI opportunities for our clients and our company.
Consulting: What does being named one of Consulting’s Fastest Growing Firms mean to your firm, your employees and your clients?
Taras: This is a tremendous honor and affirms the early implementation success of our vision as well as the talent and commitment of our entire global team. For our clients, we hope that this will serve as validation for their selection of TCG as the strategic advisor of choice, especially when faced with alternatives which include more well known brands including “big box’ generalist firms or travel agency consulting arms.
