Chicago-based Huron Consulting Group has been on a nice run of late, appearing as one of the profession’s Best Firms to Work For six years running.
Jim Roth, CEO and President of Huron Consulting Group, says one key fact to the firm’s success is that it is deeply committed to its people. Huron has built a strong culture that is based on a collaborative and supportive work environment in which the team takes enormous pride.
“Our people know that the work they do helps our clients effectively address some of the most pressing issues faced today by healthcare organizations, higher education institutions, life sciences companies, and many other commercial enterprises,” he says. “Our success is a direct result of the passionate and engaged workforce we have who are motivated by solving these complex issues and driving meaningful change for our clients. This motivation and dedication to our clients, each other, and Huron continues to keep morale high.”
A strong indication of that, Roth says, are the results Huron recorded on two specific areas on the survey—Work/Life Balance and Compensation & Benefits.
“We are pleased to be recognized highly in these two aspects because they are critical to how we attract and retain top talent. Our focus on creating an environment where our employees can thrive is critical to our success,” Roth says. “That’s very gratifying to me personally as I believe Huron succeeds if our employees feel valued and achieve professional and personal success.”
Roth says what continues to differentiate Huron in the marketplace is its culture. The firm is deeply focused on clients and highly collaborative, delivering a unique approach to helping clients achieve real change, Roth says. “Our culture brings a sense of energy and enthusiasm that is contagious, and, through our entrepreneurial spirit, we are inspired to make a lasting impact,” he says.
Each day Huron strives to create an environment where the business and its employees can thrive, driving collaboration, innovation and growth to increase value for people, clients and shareholders. “These traits and our passion for what we do truly set Huron apart,” Roth says.
And six consecutive years as one of the Best Firms to Work For doesn’t hurt either. “Each year we earn this recognition makes it easier to attract great people who then bring new ideas to continue our progress in making Huron an even better place to work,” Roth says. “Having a collaborative, engaged and motivated team is critical to our ability to partner with our clients, creating the true value of Huron.”
Q&A: When you look at the remainder of this year and 2017, what excites you? What opportunities do you see in your markets?
Roth: “What excites me most is the opportunity we have across our business to drive real change for our clients and, ultimately, impact their institutions and the communities they serve. The sectors we serve are undergoing tremendous change, which presents opportunities for Huron to be at the forefront as our clients look to us for help dealing with their rapidly evolving challenges. Helping our clients anticipate and successfully manage their most pressing strategic and operational issues is what we do best and provides valuable and engaging experiences for our team.”
