Part of the CapTech mission statement is “to be the best firm to work for and work with” so it’s no surprise Kevin McQueen, CEO of CapTech Ventures, Inc. takes the Best Firms to Work For survey very seriously. This marks the fifth consecutive year the Richmond, Va.-based firm is one of the Best Firms to Work For.

CapTech strives to be intentionally different, he says, from other management consultancies by creating a unique culture that fosters a balance of life, a fun, happy work environment and the opportunity for a long-term thriving career. “This recognition provides external validation that we are a great place for top consulting talent to build a career.”

Additionally, the Best Firms to Work For helps to build brand recognition for talent and clients in CapTech’s newer markets, McQueen says. For clients, they see the firm is retaining the best talent in the industry and recognizing that value is translated in the services the firm delivers and the long-term relationships it fosters.

McQueen says the firm employees are energized by the influx of exciting, cutting edge work CapTech is delivering across industries. “They have the opportunity to deliver great services for our clients while still maintaining a balance of life that is a staple of our culture,” he says. “Our talent sets us apart. We have a collaborative culture that is focused on sharing knowledge, building up those around you and an enthusiasm for knowledge.”

McQueen also takes the second part of that mission statement to heart—to be the best firm to work with. “We believe in partnering with our clients to deliver the best solution for their needs, strengths and challenges, McQueen says. “We don’t come in with pre-packaged solutions and we tailor our delivery to their unique situation.”

McQueen says technical depth and expertise sets CapTech apart. “We have a unique blend of technical, management consulting and creative talent that is unmatched in the industry,” he says. “We haven’t grown through acquisition. We have created our own culture and growth through the right people and the right work.”

On the survey, the firm excelled in the areas of Client Engagement and Culture. “We listen to our clients first, and then deliver solutions unique to their situation. This results in long-term relationships and engagements,” McQueen says. “And all of our consultants are client facing, offering them the opportunity to manage client expectations and client delivery at all levels of a client engagement. Everyone gets involved in understanding the client’s problem and has the opportunity to problem solve and make an impact.”

Q&A: When you look at the remainder of this year and 2017, what excites you? What opportunities do you see in your markets?

McQueen: “Age of the customer is happening. Customers are demanding exceptional experiences at every stage of engagement. We are one of the few firms who can go from creative strategy to deep technical execution. We are able to help our clients build a complete customer journey and bridge the gap from digital strategy to designing for UX and UI, architecting for the long haul and executing on delivery. We are excited that we are so well positioned to meet clients’ needs as they are hyper focused on customer engagement.”
