Ron Kinghorn PwC Excellence in Leadership
Ron Kinghorn serves as PwC’s U.S. Retail & Consumer Sector Advisory Leader, serving clients in the food and beverage, apparel, personal care, consumer product goods and retail industries. With over 20 years of consulting experience, he has a track record of leading global organizations on executing on complex, strategic programs. He specializes in risk management counsel, working across the management, technology and risk consulting spectrum to address top of mind issues facing the firm’s retail and consumer clients.
“When clients refer to me as someone who ‘has their back’ and consistently brings a big picture perspective that gives me a sense of pride,” he says. “Throughout my career I have been fortunate to have been a part of many strategic client initiatives, however it is often the little things that mean the most when you are working alongside your client and celebrating success as a combined team.”
Kinghorn has been very instrumental helping to drive the integration of the legacy Booz & Company team with the existing PwC team—nearly doubling the size of the R&C sector team. He says he’s very proud of the progress “that we have made combining our Strategy& (formerly Booz & Company) and PwC partnership in the Retail & Consumer sector,” he says. “Together we have realized record growth in the market while building a shared culture and vision for the future.”
Kinghorn says the ability to apply creative problem solving to an infinite range of challenging scenarios keeps him inspired and excited about his career. “Working in the Retail and Consumer sector provides the perfect balance of operating on the cutting edge while staying grounded with a bottom line focus,” he says. “It is an amazing time to be involved in the industry.”
Meanwhile, colleagues say that Kinghorn has extraordinary leadership skills and has set a standard for partnership, teaming and people development. He has engendered a level of loyalty and passion in his team, and has significantly raised the overall level of performance and client impact.
Developing and sponsoring new Partners is exciting and rewarding, he says. “I have had the opportunity to support several high potential professionals in navigating the complexities of this career and being admitted into the Partnership,” he says. “I’ve encouraged them to seek meaning in their work and to balance results in their personal lives. Watching them in action, they have done the same for me.”
As far as winning the award, he says it provides him with an opportunity to reflect upon the past 23 years in this profession and all of the amazing people that have helped to shape and support him. “For PwC, it helps us to share the story of the journey we’ve been on building what we believe will become a Category of One Firm,” he says. “For my clients, it is an opportunity to publicly thank each of them for their trust and partnership along the way.”
