Rich Lyons is a man on a mission. He founded Lyons Consulting Group in 2003 with one goal in mind: to focus on the customers’ success. He also fervently encourages the development and support of consulting talent, and to that end he’s grown the firm headcount from 13 in 2010 to 253 in 2015—a nearly twenty-fold increase.
His dedication to both the firm’s clients and its talent make him a standout leader and a perfect winner of our Top 25 Consultants award in the Excellence in Leadership category.
Asked to name the accomplishments he’s most proud of over the last 12 months, Lyons rattled off a laundry list of media accolades including being named to Consulting’s lists of Fastest Growing Firms and Seven Small Jewels, Crain’s Fast Fifty list for the second year in a row, and the Inc. 5000 list for the sixth time.
Lyons cites the continued success of the firm that bears his name as the proudest accomplishment of his career. “Not because of what it means for me personally, but because of what it means for our clients and our employees,” he says. “As we have grown, we have been able to expand our service offerings to address specific client needs and take a holistic approach to eCommerce. We have been able to attract the best talent in the industry and in turn deliver the best work for clients. While it’s nice to receive the many awards and honors that we have, it’s even better to see our customers succeed with our help,” Lyons says.
As for the biggest factor to his success, Lyons says it’s his commitment to focusing on people, both clients and employees.
“Lyons Consulting Group has grown over the last 13 years by putting the customer first and creating client satisfaction. I believe strongly in remaining nimble and entrepreneurial, and the company is continually recreating itself to respond to changes in the industry and to customer needs. When our customers are happy, they keep coming back to us as their trusted partner and serve as references for us to attract more business,” he says.
When asked what motivates him to excel, his answer was simple and emphatic: “I am absolutely devoted to focusing on the customer. If they don’t excel, then I don’t excel. Because of this, I have set the highest standards for myself and Lyons Consulting Group, and I’m motivated by the needs of the customer. We strive every day to be the best eCommerce digital agency in the world and to deliver the best experience for our clients.”

“This award is validation of all the time and effort Lyons Consulting Group puts into making a positive impact on the success of clients. It demonstrates that, even though we’ve grown a lot since the firm’s founding in 2003, we’ve never strayed from our commitment to customer success.
