West Monroe Partners
Excellence in Client Service
As the youngest among this year’s Rising Stars of the Profession at just 26 years of age, Sam Dawes has quite a few accomplishments under his belt.
Sam Dawes is a manager in West Monroe Partners’ Operations Excellence practice. He is one of only a handful of people in firm history to be promoted from consultant to manager in four years. In addition, Dawes volunteered to be just the third person on board to startup a new office for the firm in 2013 in Minneapolis and has been instrumental in helping the new office grow from three to 25 people.
“Three years ago, when I accepted the challenge to be part of the startup office in Minneapolis and transfer from Chicago, I couldn’t imagine we would grow as fast or as successfully as we have. Coming into the office each morning and working with some of the best, brightest and most grounded people I’ve ever met makes all the hard work worth it.”
The biggest factor to his success thus far, he says, was making the decision to join West Monroe rather than joining a larger consulting firm. “West Monroe provided me with a unique opportunity to take more ownership on projects faster, at a younger age, and on more complex projects than I believe I would have had elsewhere,” he says. “Luckily, I had managers that trusted me enough to put me in those situations while still providing me the support structure necessary to succeed.”
Dawes says being named one of the Rising Stars of the Profession, is “a validation of all the time and effort my mentors and managers invested in me early on,’ he says. “So this is as much their award as it is mine.”
