Excellence in Healthcare
Andrew Kadar, a Senior Engagement Manager with L.E.K. Consulting, once got some pretty good advice: “Nobody will make your life sustainable for you. It is up to you to be proactive and come up with creative solutions to ensure you live a productive, yet balanced life.”
He’s taken it to heart as his consulting career has progressed. He moved to Tokyo for six months to bolster the management team and was able to assist with office leadership, institute steps to improve employee morale, learn from the Tokyo office’s strengths, and help improve office profitability. “I am proud that I have been able to serve as a mentor for multiple associates and consultants in the San Francisco and Tokyo offices,” he says.
While always taking the pro-active approach in his career choices, he’s come up with some other significant accomplishments, as well. In his two most successful cases, he helped clients build Medicare Advantage plans from the ground up.
“I think the excessive cost of the U.S. healthcare system is one of the defining problems of my generation,” Kadar says. “I am passionate about helping healthcare services clients develop innovative methods and practical strategies to bring ideas to the market that will bend the cost curve.”
Kadar attributes his success to his highly-supportive family and parents who forced him to learn to debate and defend his opinions at the dinner table at an early age. Also, he says his wife challenges him to grow yet remains forever supportive.
As far as being recognized as one of the Rising Stars of the Profession, Kadar says: “In an industry of amorphous tasks and uncertain outcomes, it is great to be appreciated by my firm and by Consulting magazine.”
