TOP Step Consulting, a Washington, D.C.-based leading provider of professional services automation, project management, and consulting skills services, improves business efficiency and productivity for Professional Services business operations, according to President and CEO Jodi Cicci.

Cicci says the secret has been working with clients, not for them. “We help you achieve your profitability goals by streamlining operations through Professional Services Automation (PSA) technology alignment, process re-engineering and consulting skill training,” Cicci says. “Our PSA experts have “walked the walk” and understand the challenges and rewards in managing the professional services business.”

Cicci says the firm has quickly built a strong and loyal base of over 250 customers, many of which have extensive global operations.

With a 105 percent growth rate, Top Step Consulting comes in at No. 32 on the Fastest Growing Firms list. Cicci sat down with Consulting to discuss the current growth, the firm and the future.

Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to you exceptional growth rate between the years 2011 and 2014?

Cicci: Continued customer loyalty and new customers finding us via reputations and customer references. Maintaining expertise in our niche software area of NetSuite OpenAir and expanding growth into additional software areas akin to our PSA expertise with FinancialForce PSA.

Consulting: How was/is 2015 shaping up for your firm?

Cicci: Well, 2015 is shaping up to have about 50 percent growth due to the expansion of an additional practice with FinancialForce PSA. Customers familiar with us are approaching us for advice on which system fits their needs better.

Consulting: How would you describe your firm’s outlook for 2016? Where do you see the most opportunities?

Cicci: 2016 is expected to be another 15 percent to 20 percent growth as our firm stabilizes on the quick growth and ensures customer loyalty remains in place with our new expanded team. Most opportunities are in general PSA advice and with integrations of PSA solutions to other systems.

Consulting: What do you see as the biggest challenges for your firm in 2016?

Cicci: The biggest challenges come from the quickly formed FinancialForce PSA group to sustain the fast growth of 2015 with a number of new hires. Keeping attribution low and focusing on opportunities to partner with companies and gain new customers will be a challenge as a result of the exceptional growth of 2015.

Consulting: What does being named one of Consulting’s Fastest Growing Firms mean to your firm, your employees and your clients?

Cicci: It confirms our customer first mission statement to ensure customer success through technology, consulting skills, and best practice processes is a solid approach to building a business and continuing growth.
