Lyons sat down with Consulting to discuss to discuss the firm’s 275 percent growth rate.
Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your exceptional growth rate between the years 2011 and 2014?
Lyons: Lyons has grown by helping our clients take full advantage of the market opportunities in the eCommerce marketplace. We serve retailers, branded manufacturers and B2B firms looking to grow their online business. Our space is changing rapidly, and customers are looking for us to guide them through this change. Our customers expect us, as an expert in the field, to provide them with advice and counsel on how to adapt to this rapid industry change.
Consulting: How is 2015 shaping up for your firm?
Lyons: 2015 will be another record year for LYONSCG. Two factors are fueling continued growth. First, the online retail trends that have driven growth in the eCommerce space the last several years are, if anything, accelerating. Consumers want the flexibility of ordering anywhere and anytime. Second, B2B firms are building consumer-like eCommerce websites sites at an accelerating pace. We need to meet the expanding customer demand. We’ll add nearly 100 people in 2015.
Consulting: How would you describe your outlook for 2016?
Lyons: We expect to grow again in 2016. Growth opportunities willcome in three areas. First, online retailers will continue to press forward with their omni-channel initiatives. Second, new and improving website technology for personalization and optimization will prompt sellers to both B2C and B2B customers to rethink their marketing strategy when it comes to their eCommerce websites. Finally, the B2B space will continue to expand their eCommerce offerings, providing us with another large customer opportunity.
Consulting: What do you see as the biggest challenges for your firm in 2016?
Lyons: Our biggest challenge in 2016 will be managing our firm’s growth. It’s too easy in a professional services environment to let the business get ahead of a firm’s ability to staff. We’re very clear that we will not grow for growth’s sake—we’ll expand only at the rate that we can maintain our service quality. To grow, we’ve got to be able to find the right people and onboard them quickly.

Lyons: I am extremely proud our company’s growth, as it demonstrates that we continue to meet our clients’ needs in the eCommerce marketplace.
