Excellence in Financial Services
Over the course of the last year, Kimberly Dickerson moved from Protiviti’s Chicago office to Metro D.C. and recently took on the role of Office and Market Leader for that market.
“I am proud of the sense of excitement and the momentum we’ve seen in both employee engagement and client growth during this time,” Dickerson says.
Dickerson has spent the last ten years in Protiviti’s Risk and Compliance practice where she focuses on assisting financial institutions in building and strengthening their risk management frameworks; testing for regulatory compliance; assessing and improving control environments; improving operational processes; and implementing change of control transactions.
“My best work memories definitely come when I see that our team has made a positive difference for our clients,” Dickerson says. “When I see our clients overcome a challenge, solve a problem, or create something new, it’s rewarding to know that Protiviti played a part. When they come back to me for the next challenge, I know I’ve become a trusted advisor. The challenge of taking on a new engagement and the feeling of accomplishment when the work is completed successfully are both very rewarding to me.”
Prior to joining Protiviti, she spent 12 years working for top five U.S. banks and subsequently spent five years working in private equity. Dickerson is a certified Project Management Professional, and she is also the leader of Protiviti’s Global Women’s Initiative.
“I never thought I would be a consultant. I started my career in banking and thought that I’d put in my time and one day get a cube closer to a window,” she says. “When I joined Protiviti, I wondered what took me so long to find the career that seemed so much better aligned with my goals and my personality. I am most proud of the fact that I took the risk to change careers, found my passion along the way, and am now being recognized as one of the best consultants in the profession.”
Speaking of that recognition, Dickerson says she is incredibly honored and humbled to be selected as a Top 25 Consultant.
“This award reinforces that Protiviti is ‘living our promises’—our promises to our people, which encourage development and collaboration, and our promises to our clients, which focus on delivering value with excellence,” she says. “These promises are more than just a corporate vision, they are actually being realized in our work every day. I’ve personally benefited from these Promises and I believe they manifest themselves in every interaction we have with our clients.”
What motivates you to excel?
“There are a couple of things that motivate me. The first is my clients. They have trusted me to help them solve some of their most complex problems and their trust inspires me to do everything I can to help them be successful. The second is my Protiviti family. I’m surrounded by some of the smartest, most genuine professionals in the field. It may sound cliché to say that our people, from top to bottom, really care about one another, about the success of our clients, and about the success of each other, but it’s true and I believe that is one of the key ingredients that makes Protiviti such a special place to work.”
