Excellence in Leadership
Stephen Chase is U.S. Leader of KPMG’s Advisory Management Consulting practice and a member of the firm’s National Advisory Leadership Team. He has more than 20 years of management consulting and technology experience. Chase has been key to KPMG’s success over the last several years.
KPMG’s Management Consulting practice has continued on a trend of double-digit growth over the last five years. Over the last 12 months, Chase says KPMG has responded to the changing technology landscape by growing its technology capabilities, including digital, mobile and analytics. Through the acquisitions of Cynergy, Zanett, Link and others, as well as organic investments, including the development of the KPMG Strategy practice, the firm has developed unique market offerings and has been recognized as a firm that can deliver from strategy through execution, Chase says.
“Providing these solutions to our clients has not only changed the solutions and capabilities that we have, but also the way that we deliver them. We recently launched the first of our KPMG Ignition Centers in Denver,” he says. “Ignition Centers reflect the changing delivery models around consulting and are built to drive design, collaboration and support agile delivery. I am really proud of the leadership role that I have played in each of these accomplishments.”
Chase says we live in a unique time where business models are rapidly changing due to changes in technology. “As a consultant I feel very fortunate that I get exposed every day to these complex changes and am on the forefront of thinking about how to use them to deliver solutions to our clients,” he says. “I push for new and different ways of thinking about solutions and how we can bring new perspectives and capabilities to our clients.”
At KPMG, Chase says he’s lucky to work with incredible clients who trust the firm with their biggest challenges and teams from around the world who are the best at what they do. “Our ability to combine our creative people with our clients’ diverse challenges is unique to consulting,” Chase says. “When we get that right, our clients and our people are successful.”
Chase says he’s “had the pleasure of being on a journey with KPMG” over many years from the initial split into KPMG Consulting/Bearing Point and then re-joining KPMG. “I am extremely proud of the role I have had the opportunity to play in rebuilding Management Consulting and global technology capabilities at KPMG,” he says. “I’m also proud of the decades-long relationships I have established with my clients and the challenges we have worked to overcome.
“Lastly, I am proud that a large group of partners and managing directors, who I’ve coached over the years, credit me with having helped them achieve their career goals,” he says.
