In the foreword to Nicolai Andler's Tools for Project Management, Workshops and Consulting , Dr. Tom Sommerlatte calls it "the universal field-theory of problem solving." Indeed, the book promises a lot and delivers a wealth of information and methodology on the skill sets required for the process of problem-solving in a cookbook style that's easy enough to navigate. Andler, a consultant and executive coach, lays out more than 100 tools and techniques that he says are the most important for problem solving, including a rating of each skill in terms of applicability, ease of use and effectiveness. If this all sounds a bit like trying to teach an artist to paint, it is, on some level. But the book's real value rests in the realization of just how straightforward the solutions often are.
