Global consulting firm AlixPartners has announced that Rita Khan and Donald M. Remy have joined the firm's Board of Directors. Rita Khan is the Chief Consumer Officer for Optum, a UnitedHealth Group company. Donald Remy is the founder and CEO of The Remy Group and former Deputy Secretary of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

As Optum's Chief Consumer Officer, Rita Khan aligns products, services, and digital capabilities to meet the needs of nearly 100 million patients and members who interact with Optum and UnitedHealthcare. Key initiatives within Rita's remit include supporting value-based care, driving cost transparency, and sponsoring consumer empowerment to help people live healthier, longer lives. Previously, Rita was Mayo Clinic's first chief digital officer and was responsible for advancing Mayo Clinic's digital strategy and the Center for Digital Health. During her tenure, virtual care solutions, artificial intelligence, and seamless digital experiences expanded in support of critical patient and care team needs. Rita previously spent 20 years in senior roles in the retail industry at market-leading corporations, including Digital River Inc., Best Buy, Macy's and Target Corporation. Rita holds a bachelor's degree from Tufts University in Boston and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

In 2021, Donald Remy was nominated by President Biden and confirmed by the Senate to serve as the Deputy Secretary of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Operating as Chief Operating Officer of the VA, he was responsible for strategy, resources, governance, policy, and management infrastructure of the largest integrated healt hcare system, benefit claims processing system, and cemetery system in the United States (with a $325 billion budget, 450,000 employees, 9 million enrolled Veterans, and 1,700 health care facilities). Donald earned a meritorious service award for his leadership and exceptional contribution to veterans' welfare. Before serving at the VA, Donald was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Legal Officer at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), where he oversaw all strategic planning, media rights, operations, budget management, policymaking, and legal affairs for the $1 billion enterprise. Donald previously was a partner and global practice group chair at Latham & Watkins, where he handled complex investigations and compliance matters, and he also practiced law at O'Melveny & Myers, where he handled complex class action litigation. In addition, he was a Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer at Fannie Mae, where, among other responsibilities, he managed multifamily community development after Hurricane Katrina. Donald also previously held several roles in government, including as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the U.S. Department of Justice and Assistant to the General Counsel for the U.S. Army. Donald's current and past board affiliations include Mayo Clinic, The Congressional Award, AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly, Arbiter Sports, Omega Investment Partners, Garretson Resolution Group, and Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights. A former commissioned U.S. Army officer, he is a hall-of-distinction alumni of Louisiana State University, and earned his juris doctorate cum laude from Howard University School of Law. He also is a U.S. President's Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, a Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America honoree, and also holds several other notable recognitions and honorary degrees.
