Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) has recently announced its US public sector business, Computer Sciences Government Services (CSGov), will be merging with SRA later this year to create one of the largest "pure-play" IT services providers for the US government.  With combined revenues of roughly $5.5 billion and almost 19,000 employees, the new company stands to alter the way consultancies approach the IT aspect of their services to the US public sector.

CSC announced in May of this year its intent to spin off its US public sector unit from the commercial unit of the business, citing divergent client needs between the private and public sector that would not be conducive to steady growth of CSC under its original structure.  Dividing its US government services unit into its own company, the new CSGov is in a much better position to merge with SRA, a company known for dedicated service to the US public sector in the IT domain.
