Accenture, while already holding a fairly strong position in IT consulting and technology services to the energy industry market, will extend its reach to the industry through the acquisition of Schlumberger Business Consulting (SBC), which has over 250 consultants globally. The addition of SBC is surely to move Accenture into the paths of strategy-focused firms and energy specialist firms, with its newly formed advantage (if the deal goes through) of its established strength in IT and technologies coupled with SBC's strategy and management consulting expertise.
