Mark Furgeson is a Senior Managing Director at Ankura and a trusted advisor to healthcare organizations navigating the intersection of strategy, capital investment, and the built environment. Across a 30-year career, he has analyzed, planned, and designed innovative healthcare environments, helping leadership teams translate complex market, reimbursement, and policy dynamics into practical facility and real estate decisions.
Prior to joining Ankura, Mark served as Director of Design for one of the largest U.S. health systems and spent roughly two decades leading a healthcare consulting and design firm. His experience spans the full lifecycle of healthcare capital programs—from strategic analytics and master planning to design, construction, and activation—supporting projects ranging from small rural facilities to large for-profit and not-for-profit systems. Mark has guided ambulatory growth strategies (including distributed care models and new medical office buildings), served as an expert witness, and facilitated board retreats on healthcare strategy, planning, and implementation.
He is a frequent speaker on the future of healthcare and how policy shapes healthcare real estate investment. Mark holds a Master of Architecture from Clemson University and is a Registered Architect and Real Estate Broker. Affiliated with the American College of Healthcare Executives and American Institute of Architects nationally.
