The appointment marks the formal debut of the firm's Finance as a Service practice, aimed at supporting early-stage businesses with scalable operations.

National accounting and advisory firm WilliamsMarston has named Marcello Castellano as Partner and Finance as a Service (FaaS) Practice Leader. Based in the firm's Boston office, Castellano's appointment marks the formal launch of WilliamsMarston's FaaS practice, which will deliver end-to-end finance and accounting capabilities through a technology-enabled platform model.
The new practice provides a full outsourcing model for both operational and strategic finance functions. It is designed to support high-growth and early-stage companies seeking to scale their finance operations efficiently, allowing them to expand without the immediate need for significant internal headcount or complex infrastructure.
"Marcello brings the ideal combination of technical accounting expertise, operational finance experience, and deep familiarity with the needs of high-growth companies," said Sanjay Ramaswamy, Chief Executive Officer of WilliamsMarston. He added that the FaaS practice will provide clients with the capabilities and technology support they need at each stage of growth.
As Practice Leader, Castellano will focus on building the foundation of the FaaS offering and expanding the firm's capabilities in outsourced finance. Castellano noted that high-growth businesses often require strong financial rigor but are not always able to build a full internal function immediately. He emphasized that the AI-enabled model provides a foundation that can grow alongside the client.
Castellano brings more than 20 years of experience advising emerging businesses on finance, accounting, and business transformation. He joins WilliamsMarston from Browne Consulting, where he spent six years advising venture-backed life sciences companies. This appointment also represents a return to the firm for Castellano, who previously spent nearly four years as a Managing Director at WilliamsMarston.
Earlier in his career, Castellano held roles at PwC, including time in the firm's Global Capital Markets group in Europe and its Transaction Advisory practice, where he focused on private equity buy-side diligence.
