Move brings the firm's global energy expertise to the Alberta market as the sector faces increasing technological and geopolitical shifts.
Global management and technology consultancy Capco, a Wipro company, has launched a new practice in Calgary dedicated to the energy and utilities sector. The expansion is designed to support the firm's existing Alberta-based clients while capturing new opportunities in a market currently undergoing significant shifts driven by digitalization, M&A activity, and geopolitical volatility.
The Calgary practice will be led by Dave Arnot, who joins the firm with more than 20 years of industry and consulting experience in Alberta. Arnot's background includes roles at AltaGas, Odyssey NRG, Trafigura, and Publicis Sapient. Under his direction, the new office will provide local leadership and talent to a market that has long been a pillar of the Canadian economy.
Drawing on Capco's history in both energy and financial services, the new practice will focus on high-priority areas such as AI-infused transformation, commercial and trading systems, and modern data architectures. The firm also plans to offer specialized services in cyber security and program governance, helping clients modernize legacy systems and scale operations securely.
"With our blend of local and global expertise across both energy and financial services, Capco brings something very different to the market as firms navigate this dynamic business landscape," said Suzanne Muir, Managing Partner for Capco Canada. Chris McNeely, Partner and Global Energy Lead at Capco, added that the focus in Calgary will be on high-quality advisory services as the Canadian energy sector undergoes an "unprecedented period of diversification and expansion."
According to Arnot, the practice will leverage data and AI to help clients streamline information flows and automate compliance reporting. "As more companies move toward data lake solutions and pick the best tools for each job, we're here to help modernize older systems, scale operations securely, tackle cyber risks head-on, and give teams better visibility all the way from the field to the market," he stated.
Capco's energy consulting business, established nearly three decades ago, currently employs over 2,000 consultants worldwide. The firm maintains a significant presence in the U.S., Brazil, and the UK, with practices covering the entire energy value chain, including utilities, energy transition, and midstream operations.
