Appointments expand its regional footprint with senior hires focused on technology risk for the public sector and turnaround services for industrial clients.

Professional services firm EY has strengthened its Midlands practice with the appointment of two senior partners, Tony King and Kris Aspin. The strategic hires are designed to bolster the firm's regional expertise in high-growth areas, specifically artificial intelligence, data risk, and financial restructuring.

Tony King, Partner, Data Risk and AI, EY.

Tony King joins as a Partner in Data Risk and AI within the Technology Risk practice, where he will focus on supporting government and healthcare clients. With 23 years of professional services experience, King has a proven track record of scaling high-performing teams; in his previous role, he grew a national data risk and AI practice from its inception to a team of more than 40 professionals. At EY, he will help clients navigate data quality challenges and unlock value through AI-driven decision-making.

"Public sector and healthcare organizations are under pressure to deliver better outcomes with constrained resources, and data and AI are central to that challenge," said King. He added that EY's investment in data and alliance partners positions the firm to create new opportunities for regional growth while supporting clients on both a national and international scale.

Kris Aspin, Partner, Midlands Restructuring Practice, EY.

Leading the Midlands Restructuring practice is Kris Aspin, who joins the regional office from EY's Edinburgh branch. Aspin brings over two decades of experience, including 15 years in Manchester and six in Scotland, advising on major financial restructurings and mid-market engagements. An experienced insolvency practitioner, he has particular expertise within the industrials and energy sectors, which are vital to the Midlands economy.

In his new role, Aspin will focus on building long-term relationships with management teams and lenders to address financial stress proactively. "The Midlands is home to many of the UK's most well-known industrial, automotive and advanced manufacturing businesses, and they are operating in a period of significant change," Aspin stated, noting the importance of providing localized restructuring and insolvency support.

Adrian Roberts, EY's Managing Partner for the Midlands, described the appointments as a significant investment in the region. He noted that King's expertise in data risk and Aspin's track record in complex restructuring will be "invaluable" as the firm helps organizations address performance challenges in an increasingly complex environment.
