Acquisition of the San Jose-based firm will provide Cognizant with enhanced AI infrastructure capabilities to meet the projected $6.7 trillion global data center buildout.

Professional services firm Cognizant has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Astreya, a global AI-first IT managed services provider, for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition is designed to advance Cognizant's transformation into an "AI builder" by expanding its infrastructure foundation capabilities and harnessing Astreya's extensive managed services expertise for enterprise clients at scale.

Founded in 2001 and headquartered in San Jose, California, Astreya brings a 25-year track record as a trusted partner to some of the world's largest technology companies. The firm maintains long-term, outcome-based managed services relationships with six of the "Magnificent Seven" hyperscalers and operates across more than 35 countries. Its proprietary AI OpsHub platform, which features modules for readiness assessment, signal intelligence, and agentic automation, is expected to be a central component of the integration.

The acquisition comes at a pivotal time for the industry, with a projected $6.7 trillion AI data center infrastructure buildout expected to reshape the global technology landscape between 2025 and 2030. "Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S. noted that by acquiring Astreya and its production-grade infrastructure platform, the firm will be better positioned to help clients architect platform-led AI systems and operationalize them at scale, particularly as hyperscaler capital spending is expected to reach nearly $700 billion in 2026."

Surya Gummadi, President of Cognizant Americas, emphasized that AI data center investment is a critical path for future economic growth. He noted that the acquisition will meaningfully expand Cognizant's AI infrastructure capabilities, particularly in the U.S., where data centers and high-tech investment accounted for the vast majority of private domestic demand growth in early 2025. The deal is intended to provide Cognizant clients with immediate access to hyperscaler-hardened talent and proven AI operations capabilities.

"Astreya has redefined what it means to be a trusted partner in the AI era by embedding intelligence into every solution," said Romil Bahl, President and CEO of Astreya. He added that joining Cognizant is the natural next chapter for his team and will allow the firm to accelerate the commercialization of its Enterprise AI Ops capabilities at a pace that would not be achievable as a standalone provider.

The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. Once finalized, Astreya's ecosystem partnerships with Google Cloud Platform and ServiceNow will become key assets within Cognizant's global delivery infrastructure, helping clients bridge the gap between AI infrastructure investment and measurable business value.
