Industry veteran brings over 25 years of experience in AI-enabled workforce models and strategic transformation to the firm's Atlanta office.

John McLean, Managing Director, BRG (Berkeley Research Group).

Global advisory firm BRG (Berkeley Research Group) has appointed John McLean as a managing director within its healthcare practice. Based in the firm's Atlanta office, McLean brings more than 25 years of experience advising health system boards, executives, and clinicians on provider transformation, financial turnarounds, and workforce-related strategies.

In his new role, McLean will co-lead BRG's Operational Excellence team alongside firm veteran and former hospital executive David Wildebrandt. His work will focus on directing the deployment of complex strategic and operational solutions for healthcare providers navigating financial pressures, federal funding reductions, and the increasing role of technology in care delivery.

A leading voice on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in future-state labor models, McLean's expertise aligns with the firm's recent expansion of its Advanced AI & Decision Intelligence practice. His appointment is intended to help organizations improve performance across enterprise operations and technology-enabled care models through the intersection of strategy and execution.

"John brings a rare ability to connect strategy with execution at a time when healthcare organizations are being asked to do both—quickly and at scale," said Rich Bajner, a managing director at BRG. "As we continue to build out our broader healthcare platform, his experience in strategic transformation and AI-enabled workforce models will be critical to helping our clients adapt—and lead—in today's ever-changing market."

McLean previously served as chief growth officer at Ovation Healthcare and held leadership roles at Guidehouse, Premier Inc., and the Advisory Board Company. He currently serves as a board advisor to Litehouse Health, an AI-driven workforce management platform. He holds an MS in health systems from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a BS in industrial engineering from North Carolina State University.

The appointment follows a period of significant growth for BRG's healthcare practice, which welcomed 11 managing directors and directors in 2025. McLean noted that the firm's focus on results-oriented solutions makes it an ideal fit as providers manage "unprecedented financial, workforce and operational roadblocks."
