Professional services advisor CBIZ, Inc. has elevated Peter Scavuzzo to the role of Senior Vice President, Chief Information & Technology Officer. Effective May 1, Scavuzzo will also continue to serve as President of CBIZ Technology, taking over the responsibilities of Chief Information Officer John Fleischer, who is retiring after a 12-year tenure with the firm.

The appointment marks a strategic shift for CBIZ as it unifies its technology functions under a single leadership structure. In his expanded role, Scavuzzo will lead a consolidated organization that brings together enterprise IT, client-facing solutions, and the Business Transformation and Innovation team. This alignment is designed to synchronize technology investments with broader business goals and accelerate the delivery of digital solutions.

"Technology—particularly AI—is an increasingly important driver of how we deliver value to our clients," said Jerry Grisko, President and CEO of CBIZ. Grisko noted that the new structure will advance technology, data, and AI as enterprise-wide capabilities, supporting long-term revenue growth and operational efficiency while providing greater insights to the firm's middle-market client base.

Scavuzzo joined CBIZ in 2024 following the firm's acquisition of Marcum LLP, where he previously served as Chief Information & Digital Officer and CEO of Marcum Technology. During his tenure at Marcum, he managed growth through more than 50 M&A deals and led innovation initiatives such as the Marcum Labs incubator. He brings over 25 years of experience to his new role, with a background spanning computer engineering, telecommunication networks, and accounting.

In his new capacity, Scavuzzo will focus on aligning technology with business needs, managing the firm's technology portfolio, and ensuring business continuity. "By integrating leadership of enterprise IT with CBIZ Technology, we will better align investments with strategic goals, enhance resilience and security, and ensure that the business—and our clients—remain at the center of every decision," Scavuzzo stated.

The transition follows the long-term service of Fleischer, whom Grisko credited with developing a service-focused IT organization and enhancing the firm's cybersecurity infrastructure. The leadership change comes as CBIZ continues to expand its reach, currently employing more than 9,500 team members across 23 major markets in the U.S.
