The 2026 Rising Stars of the Profession: Jocelyn Sum

Jocelyn Sum is a Managing Director who provides consulting and expert witness services in matters involving economic, financial and valuation analysis. Her work supports clients engaged in litigation, arbitration and mediation, with a focus on calculating damages and assessing economic harm in both commercial disputes and intellectual property matters. Jocelyn has experience across a broad range of disputes, including breach of contract, shareholder matters, patent and trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, false advertising and trade dress claims. She has led and supported analyses related to lost profits, disgorgement, reasonable royalty determinations and the application of Georgia-Pacific factors, as well as prepared expert reports and testimony.

Her project experience spans multiple industries, including software, pharmaceuticals, financial services, retail and consumer products, music and artificial intelligence. In addition to dispute-related work, Jocelyn has advised on valuation matters and loss of earnings analyses, including assessments of business value, employee departures, business interference and the reasonableness of company valuations prepared for both internal and fair market value purposes. Jocelyn graduated cum laude from New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business with a B.S. in Business and Political Economy.
