James Hunter
Rising Star Honoree - Strategy & Transformation
James Hunter received his Honours BA in English Literature from Western University, where he was elected President of the Heart and Stroke Club. He went on to complete a Master of Management at the Schulich School of Business, earning a Dean's Entrance Scholarship and graduating on the Dean's Honour List. During the program, James was elected by his peers to the Graduate Business Council, serving as Community and Alumni Portfolio Lead. For his capstone project, he and his team successfully pitched and delivered a consulting engagement for CIBC. Following graduation in 2018, James was hired by a Schulich professor to develop negotiation and strategy case materials and articles, further strengthening his ability to translate complex ideas into practical frameworks.
James joined Level5 Strategy as an Analyst in 2019 and progressed rapidly through the firm, becoming Manager in 2021 and Director in July 2024. Since 2021, he has also served as Head of Recruiting, evolving Level5's hiring process to improve rigor, equity and long-term fit. In 2025, James nearly doubled his business development target, a stretch expectation for the role. Outside of work, James is married, a dog dad, and an avid hiker and skier.
