Hernan Saenz, Partner, Head of Global Strategy & Transformation, Bain & Company.

Saenz brings over two decades of experience to the role, having previously overseen a period of significant growth for the firm's Southwest region and Performance Improvement practice.

Global consultancy Bain & Company has appointed Hernan Saenz as the new head of its global Strategy & Transformation practice. Saenz, a senior partner and former member of the firm's board of directors, takes over the leadership role to oversee the firm's work in helping clients navigate "full potential" business journeys and large-scale strategic shifts.

In his new capacity, Saenz will be responsible for leveraging Bain's cross-industry expertise to help organizations reinvent their business models. The practice focuses on developing industry-defining strategies and implementing dynamic execution plans intended to maximize value during periods of significant market disruption and technological change.

"Hernan brings to his new role vast experience, recognition across the firm as one of Bain's most respected and inspiring leaders, and an outsized track record of building our business," said François Faelli, global head of capabilities at Bain & Company. "Under his leadership, we are energized to see the results for the firm and our clients as he leads the practice in its next exciting chapter of growth and industry leadership."

Saenz brings more than 25 years of experience at the firm to the position. He most recently served as the global head of Bain's Performance Improvement practice, where he oversaw a three-fold increase in the practice's scale while specializing in accelerated performance transformation. His previous leadership roles include serving as the managing partner for the firm's Dallas, Houston, and Mexico offices, where he oversaw a doubling in the size of the firm's Southwest region.

Saenz succeeds Dunigan O'Keeffe, who is credited with integrating the firm's strategy and transformation teams into a single unified practice. Saenz noted that he intends to build upon the innovation established under O'Keeffe's tenure. "We will continue to champion Bain's mission to partner our clients to drive unparalleled levels of economic value while setting new standards for our respective industries," Saenz stated regarding the appointment.

Beyond his work at the firm, Saenz serves as an advisor to the World Economic Forum, leading an initiative on digital and circular value chains. He is also a faculty member at Cornell University's Johnson School of Business, where he teaches on the evolution of strategy and operations. Saenz holds an MBA and MILR from Cornell University, an MS in economics from Stanford University, and a BA from Harvard University.
