Acquisition signals a strategic shift for the risk management and investigations firm, driven by new leadership appointed in late 2025.

K2 Integrity, a firm specializing in risk management and investigations, announced its acquisition of cybersecurity services company Leviathan Security Group. The deal is a key component of a new technology and AI-focused strategy being implemented by the firm's leadership.

The move follows the October 2025 appointment of Aaron Karczmer as CEO of K2. Karczmer, whose background includes roles at PayPal, American Express, and the New York County District Attorney's cyber-crime unit, has set a new strategic direction for the company. Alongside Karczmer, Michael Flowers joined K2 as Global Head of Data and Technology to develop a modern tech stack intended to support AI-powered services.

Leviathan Security Group, founded in 2006 by Frank Heidt, provides services including information assurance, risk assessment, and penetration testing for clients in both the private and public sectors. Heidt's prior experience includes serving as a Managing Security Architect at @stake and cybersecurity work for the Department of Defense.

K2 leadership framed the acquisition as a natural step in the company's evolution. "The combination of the collective capabilities and resources... will enable us to provide innovative tech-enabled services to our clients," said Karczmer.

The relationship between the two firms predates the acquisition. K2 Founder and Chairman, Jules Kroll, noted that he has maintained a long-term relationship with Heidt and that the companies have partnered on projects in the past.

"Joining K2 is a natural evolution of that legacy and is a testament to Aaron's vision for offering modern technology solutions to clients," remarked Frank Heidt.
