Longtime Segal executive, who previously led the firm's rapidly growing investment consulting practice, succeeds David Blumenstein, who now moves to Chair of the Board of Directors.
Benefits and HR consulting firm Segal has named John DeMairo its new President and Chief Executive Officer, a move that places a 35-year company veteran at the helm. The appointment, announced by the firm’s Board of Directors, was effective January 1, 2026.
DeMairo takes over the leadership position from David Blumenstein, who led the firm for the past 10 years and will now serve as Chair of the Board of Directors.
A member of Segal’s executive team since 2016, DeMairo most recently served as the head of Segal Marco Advisors, the firm’s investment consulting practice. Under his leadership, the division experienced significant growth, becoming one of the largest U.S.-based investment advisory firms with more than $600 billion in combined advisory assets. His tenure also includes involvement in several strategic acquisitions that expanded Segal’s market presence and service capabilities.
In a statement, Blumenstein expressed confidence in his successor. “John is a principled leader whose deep experience and accomplishments make him well prepared to lead Segal,” he said. “I am confident that Segal will thrive with John at the helm continuing our client-focused approach.”
The transition signals a focus on continuity for the privately-owned firm, which serves over 2,500 clients. DeMairo, who also previously held the role of Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, is expected to continue the firm's client-centric model.
“Segal has been delivering objective and innovative solutions to clients for close to 90 years. I am honored to be named President and CEO, and lead Segal into the future,” DeMairo stated. “I look forward to continuing Segal’s commitment to the success of our clients.”
