The 2025 Women Leaders in Consulting: Jamie Cotera

Jamie Cotera advises lawyers on the best strategies to generate business. She has experience creating business development plans for small, mid-sized, and AmLaw 100 firms and has a track record of successful results in increasing business. She also works with lawyers and firms on raising their profiles locally, nationally, and internationally through creative marketing strategies. Before co-founding Compass Legal Marketing, Jamie worked at Kobre & Kim, a global litigation firm, where she coached the firm’s lawyers on business development tactics to retain high-value, high-margin matters. Before that, she led Morgan Lewis’ Latin America Practice business development and marketing efforts. As the director of marketing at Rivero Mestre in Miami, Jamie oversaw the team responsible for business development, marketing, recruiting, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

She is a past chair of the Legal Marketing Association’s South Florida group, is a former member of the editorial committee of Strategies—The Journal of Legal Marketing, and has spoken on legal marketing topics ranging from networking to responding to RFPs. Jamie earned her master’s degree in international communication from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia and studied journalism and Spanish at the University of Florida.
