West Monroe has announced that its Costa Rica office has grown to 100 employees, with plans to expand the team to 300 by 2027. The milestone marks a significant step in the firm’s nearshore delivery strategy, which aims to provide integrated services for its U.S. clients.
The firm first established a presence in Costa Rica in 2021 through the acquisition of product engineering firm Verys. The team, which started small, now includes specialists in software and data engineering, business analysis, and data and cloud platforms.
West Monroe's approach focuses on a nearshore model, which leverages shared time zones and cultural alignment to facilitate real-time collaboration between its Costa Rica and U.S.-based teams. This model is intended to provide a more integrated alternative to traditional offshore expansion.
The expansion is driven by increasing client demand for specialized technical skills, particularly in Salesforce and Databricks development. In response, the firm is investing in training and upskilling programs in the region to build a sustainable talent pipeline.
"What started as a smart and strategic bet has evolved into a vital part of our business," said Brian Paulen, head of offices and global enterprise services at West Monroe. "Even more impressive is how seamlessly our Costa Rica and U.S. teams partner together, support each other and genuinely enjoy the work, despite being separated by thousands of miles."
According to the firm, the Costa Rica team consistently reports the highest fulfillment scores in internal pulse surveys. Cristhian García, West Monroe's Costa Rica office lead, attributes this to a high-performing culture that delivers value to clients.
"Clients consistently ask for more of our Costa Rica talent because they're engaging, problem-solvers, and becoming true extensions of our clients' teams," García stated
The planned growth to 300 employees by 2027 is positioned as a move to enhance, rather than replace, West Monroe's U.S. teams. The firm has stated this reflects a complementary approach to its global delivery capabilities. Future hiring will target a range of roles, including technologists, shared services professionals and business consultants.
