Sarah Bencie, Managing Partner, Security Management International

Sarah Bencie is the majority owner and Managing Partner of Security Management International, LLC, a Washington, D.C.-based security consulting and defense contracting firm. Since taking leadership, Bencie has refocused the company on maximizing government contracting opportunities and rebranded it as a comprehensive security and intelligence training resource. Additionally, Bencie spearheaded a public-private-academic partnership with the University of South Florida, leading to the creation of the Global Security Operations Collaborative (GSOC) and the Security Training Collaborative (STC), a program offering high-level executive education in security, intelligence, and homeland defense. Bencie contributes to Harvard Business Review and The Journal of Counterterrorism and Homeland Security International. In 2024, she was named a finalist for Success Magazine’s Women of Influence Award. In 2022, she received Consulting Magazine’s Global Leaders in Consulting Excellence in Influence Award. Bencie is also a member of ASIS International and the U.S. Department of State Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC). Sarah completed graduate studies at Cornell University’s Bank of America Institute for Women’s Entrepreneurship and New York University’s International Relations and Affairs Program at the School of Professional Studies. She holds a graduate degree from Parsons School of Design and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Haverford College.
