What has motivated you to excel over the course of your career?

Throughout my career, my motivation to excel has been driven by a deep curiosity, a passion for solving complex problems, and a commitment to continuous growth. I thrive in environments where I can blend technology, strategy, and human dynamics to create meaningful impact. Whether leading large-scale digital transformations, optimizing business processes or mentoring future leaders, I find energy in tackling challenges that require both analytical rigor and interpersonal insight.

Beyond technical expertise, I am motivated by the relationships I build—being a trusted advisor to clients, a mentor to colleagues, and a strategic partner in business success. Seeing others succeed and knowing I played a role in their growth is incredibly fulfilling.

Additionally, my intrinsic drive for excellence comes from a personal standard of integrity, adaptability and lifelong learning. I embrace change, seek out new ideas, and push beyond conventional approaches to find better ways of working. I am motivated to leverage my experience to guide others—helping non-technical leaders navigate technology with confidence and clarity.

Ultimately, my career motivation stems from a relentless pursuit of impact, innovation and meaningful connections.

What has been the biggest factor in your success so far?

The biggest factor in my success has been my ability to combine deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of human dynamics. While my background in technology, data, and business strategy has been critical, what has truly set me apart is my ability to listen, connect, and simplify complex challenges for others.

I’ve built a reputation as a trusted advisor by focusing on clarity, execution and results. My ability to navigate ambiguity, ask the right questions, and distill complexity into actionable insights has made me an asset to clients, colleagues and organizations. I don’t just implement solutions—I help people understand and leverage them effectively.

Adaptability has also played a significant role. Technology and business landscapes are constantly evolving, and I’ve remained successful by staying curious, embracing change and continuously refining my approach. Rather than being tied to specific tools or methodologies, I focus on principles and outcomes that drive long-term impact.

Additionally, I’ve always prioritized relationships. The ability to foster trust, align diverse stakeholders, and build collaborative environments has been instrumental in my career. Success, to me, is not just about solving problems but about empowering others to succeed as well.

Ultimately, my success stems from a unique blend of technical acumen, strategic thinking and interpersonal skills—allowing me to bridge gaps, create value, and make a lasting impact in every role I take on.

What do you enjoy most about your career in the consulting industry?

What I enjoy most about my career in the consulting industry is the opportunity to solve complex challenges while making a tangible impact on organizations and individuals. Every engagement presents a unique puzzle—whether it’s aligning technology with business goals, optimizing processes or guiding leaders through transformation. I thrive on the intellectual challenge and the satisfaction of seeing ideas turn into real, measurable outcomes.

Beyond problem-solving, I find the human aspect of consulting deeply fulfilling. Building relationships, understanding client needs, and serving as a trusted advisor allow me to go beyond just delivering solutions—I help people gain confidence in their decisions and navigate uncertainty. Seeing clients succeed because of insights or strategies I helped shape is incredibly rewarding.

I also enjoy the variety and continuous learning that comes with consulting. No two projects are the same, and I’m constantly exposed to new industries, technologies and ways of thinking. The fast-paced nature of the industry keeps me engaged and ensures that I’m always growing.

Ultimately, what keeps me motivated is the ability to bridge the gap between strategy and execution—turning complex problems into practical solutions that drive meaningful change. The combination of intellectual challenge, relationship-building and real-world impact makes consulting a career that continues to excite and inspire me.

What is your proudest achievement to date?

One of the proudest moments of my career was founding OpenGate Consulting, leading a team dedicated to delivering high-quality, high-impact services for 20 years. Building something from the ground up—establishing a strong reputation, fostering long-term client relationships, and developing a team committed to excellence—has been incredibly rewarding. Since OpenGate’s acquisition by SolomonEdwards in 2023, we’ve been able to scale this impact even further.

What makes this accomplishment so meaningful is not just the business itself, but the impact we’ve had on our clients. Over the years, we’ve helped organizations grow, transform and navigate complex challenges. More importantly, we’ve helped individuals within those organizations develop their own capabilities, gain confidence and become stronger leaders. Seeing that kind of growth—both at a company and personal level—has been the most fulfilling part of the journey.

Beyond the work itself, leading a team that shares a commitment to quality and client success has been an achievement. The ability to create an environment where talented professionals thrive, solve meaningful problems, and make a lasting impact is something I take great pride in.

This experience has shaped how I view success—not just in terms of business results, but in the relationships built, the growth fostered and the long-term value created for those we’ve had the privilege to work with.

What's the best advice you've ever been given?

The best advice I’ve ever been given is that good questions are as important, if not more than, the answers. Early in my career, I had the opportunity to take a course with Arthur Andersen, taught by Mahan Khalsa, the author of "Let's Get Real or Let's Not Play." That experience fundamentally changed how I approach problem-solving and client interactions. I learned that success isn’t just about having the right answers—it’s about asking the right questions that drive meaningful conversations and uncover deeper insights.

Great questions challenge assumptions, uncover hidden complexities and spark deeper thinking. They shift conversations from surface-level discussions to meaningful insights, ensuring we’re solving the right problems—not just the obvious ones. In consulting, where ambiguity is common and no two challenges are identical, the ability to ask insightful, strategic questions is one of the most valuable skills.

This mindset has shaped how I work with clients, teams and executives. Instead of rushing to provide answers, I focus on guiding discussions that bring clarity and perspective. It also fosters a culture of curiosity and continuous learning—encouraging others to think critically rather than just accept predefined solutions.

Whether diagnosing business challenges, aligning stakeholders or mentoring professionals, I’ve seen firsthand how well-placed questions lead to better outcomes than quick answers. True leadership isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about enabling the right conversations that lead to meaningful, lasting change.

What does this recognition mean to you?

For me, recognition takes the form of seeing others grow—whether it’s the individuals I work with or the clients I help. Success isn’t just about personal achievement; it’s about creating an environment where others can thrive. Seeing someone gain confidence, overcome challenges, or reach new heights because of our collaboration is the ultimate recognition.

I find the most fulfillment in guiding others toward clarity, helping them navigate complexity, and empowering them to make informed decisions. When a client successfully implements a strategy we developed together, or when a colleague takes on new challenges with confidence, that’s when I know my work has made a real impact.

This recognition reinforces why I do what I do. It’s not about accolades—it’s about enabling growth, transformation and long-term success for the people and organizations I support.
