CMAG: What characteristics and elements would you attribute to your firm's inclusion as a Best Firm to Work For?

Being featured on the Best Small Firms to Work For list for the 4th consecutive year underscores SSI Strategy's commitment to its people. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels respected, supported, and empowered to do their most impactful work. By fostering diversity of thought and an entrepreneurial spirit, we enable our teams to collaborate effectively and innovate solutions for our clients' complex challenges. We believe that highly engaged employees are the key to driving success, and we continually work to nurture a culture that promotes connection, dedication, and growth.

Despite the challenges posed by a largely virtual model and the merger we experienced last year, we have maintained a strong sense of engagement and collaboration. This is achieved through our focus on providing learning and development opportunities, encouraging open communication, and delivering high-quality work that makes a difference for our clients. We regularly host events and initiatives based on team feedback, such as All Hands Meetings, Collaboration Days, and team-building activities. The merger has presented our colleagues with new opportunities to collaborate and grow, and we have successfully navigated this year of change by keeping our team engaged and excited about the future. Our commitment to our people remains unwavering, and we believe this is the foundation of our continued success as a Best Firm to Work For.

CMAG: Are there any specific programs or initiatives that contributed to you being included as a Best Firm?

In addition to maintaining a strong culture within the firm, our team takes great pride in the impact we have on the science we assist our clients with.

As a firm, we view our client's success as our success, and this year, we have had even more opportunities to celebrate these achievements with the expansion of our capabilities through the merger with NDA Group. The merger has created new avenues for collaboration, learning, and growth for our staff, presenting them with exciting challenges and the chance to forge new friendships with colleagues across the globe. Our teams have been able to leverage the combined expertise of both organizations to support our clients in navigating the complexities of the biotech industry, from early-stage development strategies to successful regulatory submissions.

Over the past year, our integrated teams have contributed to numerous client successes, including IND filings, clinical program starts, medical product launches, and more. We have supported FDA fast track designations, led first in-house clinical trials, and played a key role in successful MAA/BLA submissions. The trust our clients place in our teams is evident through the many repeat engagements and referrals we receive.

To foster the spirit of collaboration and knowledge sharing, we have implemented initiatives such as cross-functional project teams, global training programs, and mentorship opportunities. These initiatives have not only enhanced our ability to deliver exceptional results for our clients but have also provided our staff with new avenues for professional growth and development.

As we celebrate the 1-year anniversary of our merger, we are proud of the way our teams have come together to create a stronger, more dynamic organization that is better equipped to support our clients and provide our staff with rewarding career opportunities.

CMAG: In describing your firm, what would you say sets it apart from other consulting firms?

SSI Strategy stands out in the biotech consulting space due to our unique blend of experienced medical, scientific, and regulatory experts, including former CMOs, seasoned physicians, Ph.Ds., and regulators, as well as our talented team of business consultants. This diverse expertise allows us to provide a differentiated business model, serving as a skill-building, enablement, and operator platform for biotechs. We work alongside our clients to minimize risks and maximize value across the drug development lifecycle, offering leadership and fit-for-purpose solutions that seamlessly integrate with their existing capabilities.

Our flexible support model, called "Build – Scale – Transition," is designed to adapt to the specific needs of each client, providing the necessary expertise, resources, and guidance at every stage of their growth. We work hand-in-hand with our clients to establish a roadmap and execution strategy (Build), integrate professionals into projects as needed (Scale), and flex in and out to provide a smooth transition as the client strengthens their internal capabilities (Transition).

At SSI Strategy, we tailor our approach to support various leadership roles within biotech companies, including Board Members, CEOs, CMOs, and Functional Leaders. Our team provides strategic guidance, operational support, and deep industry knowledge to help these leaders navigate the complexities of the life sciences industry and achieve their goals.
