CMAG: What characteristics and elements would you attribute to your firm's inclusion as a Best Firm to Work For?

Creating a professional environment where individuals can learn, grow with no limits, and lead in a firm that values teamwork, collaboration, and innovation.

CMAG: Are there any specific programs or initiatives that contributed to you being included as a Best Firm?

Three initiatives. (1) Employee engagement such as monthly wellness program, mentor program, local corporate social responsibility events, and employee recognition. (2) Women at AGI which is an affinity group. (3) DEI initiatives centered around inclusion.

CMAG: In describing your firm, what would you say sets it apart from other consulting firms?

We are focused on creating space and leadership responsibilities for individuals within the organization. Activities may be as strategic as starting a new service offering to something as simple as determining the restaurant for an office function, creating a wide variety of opportunities for people to step up and grow into their own. This is critical in a professional services environment, where we've found that all our team members want to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the firm (with growth being defined as not only revenue, but also enhancing and expanding the culture of the organization). The individual benefits from this approach, as well as the business and our clients.

CMAG: Where your workforce is concerned, what would you say your priorities look like for the upcoming year and beyond?

Competency models focused on role expectations from "doing the job" to being a contributor to culture. Ensuring that individuals in the role and their managers understand what the role expectations are and what job mastery means. Finally, ensuring promotions are transparent and all individuals understand why a promotion occurred.

CMAG: What opportunities do you see as the most promising?

Expanding consulting work with our clients with our broad service offering.

CMAG: What market forces do you see as the most challenging?

The impending 2024 presidential race and economy.

CMAG: What impact do you think Best Firm to Work For honors will have on your employees? The firm overall? Clients?

It validates that Alexander Group is a great place to work since the award is based on their feedback…not by management.
