As senior partner at Kearney, Umezawa has served leading corporations in Japan and the U.S. for over 25 years. Areas of his expertise include corporate strategy, business portfolio management, innovation, urban development and organization.
He has assumed key leadership positions at KEARNEY, including Managing Director of Japan (2007-2013), Director of the Board (2012-2014), Global lead of the Consumer Products and Retail Practice (2014), and Japan Chairman (2014 current).
Umezawa also serves Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) as its Japan Chairperson. CIC, the global pioneer of large shared office/lab facilities for startups, operates innovation centers in 8 cities worldwide. He has overseen the launch in 2020 and development of CIC Tokyo. It has grown into Japan's largest startup campus which hosts 300 member companies and several clusters on such innovation themes as health care and climate tech.
