Appointment strengthens capabilities in private and public company financial reporting.
Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal announced Jason Pizza's appointment as Managing Director with the firm's Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) practice. Working directly with PEPI's CFO Services practice, Mr. Pizza will focus on the firm's Accounting Solutions offering.
With more than 22 years of experience, Mr. Pizza focuses on accounting issues around complex transactions, including initial public offering (IPO) readiness, carve-out financial statements and fresh start accounting for private equity portfolio companies and corporates across the globe. His expertise cuts across multiple industries, including retail, manufacturing, insurance, energy, aerospace & defense, and technology.
Jonathan Vanderveen, a PEPI Managing Director and leader of A&M's CFO Services' Accounting Solutions practice, stated, "Since 2020, our Accounting Solutions team has grown tenfold. Our expertise is focused on addressing accounting and financial reporting issues by establishing and/or improving functional accounting capabilities, implementing accounting pronouncements, advancing core accounting processes and supporting M&A transactions including acquisitions, combinations or exits. We advise clients on on-going "business as usual" improvements in support of their objectives and when transactions are underway or under consideration."
Mr. Pizza has worked with large and mid-market clients on preparing ventures to go public, helping clients generate financial statements that comply with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) / IFRS / Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requirements. He also advises on additional deal support requirements and accounting matters including purchase accounting/opening balance sheet preparation, fresh start accounting, restatement services, audit and financial reporting support and separation services.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Pizza spent six years with a global accounting firm, where he most recently served as the National Managing Partner for Accounting Advisory Services. In that role, he led large global IPO readiness, as well as sell-side, buy-side and carve-out transactions for several large acquisitions and divestitures nationally and globally. Additionally, he has served as a Corporate Controller and Director of Technical Accounting for two publicly traded companies and in the transaction accounting group of a Big Four accounting firm.

Mr. Pizza received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Southern Illinois University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. He is a licensed certified public accountant (CPA) in Illinois and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
