CMAG: How would you say you've managed to stay among the industry's Best Firms to Work For amid these unprecedented times?
Deecon's culture is centered around flexibility and collaboration that has allowed it to not only embrace these times, but to grow through them with our clients. This consistent level of support to clients allows us to have a steady stream of work with a wide variety of projects, providing our team unparalleled experience and exposure to industry leaders.
Our team is what makes us as a company. We put our staff first and during difficult times we have been focusing on making sure they have the help they need, we have grown our training offering, our well-being capabilities and provided careers coaching opportunities to contribute to our employees' well-being and fostering a culture of balance and teamwork.
CMAG: Were there any specific programs or initiatives (internal or external) that contributed to you being a Best Firm to Work For?
Over the last year we have improved awareness of Mental health and diversity driven through team-led training sessions. As well as internal resources such as training packs and 1-1 mentoring, Deecon provide independent external support to all of its colleagues. These sessions are confidential, and colleagues are able to discuss career challenges, development areas or anything they wish. All colleagues receive tailored feedback from an industry expert with complementary resources to support their growth. These sessions have registered 100% satisfaction on a recent review.
Our socials truly make our team with a social practically every 4 – 6 weeks such as bowling, arcade games, a yearly away day and Christmas party where everyone can relax, bond and channel their competitive spirits. These regular socials not only allow us to collaborate outside of work, but also give us an opportunity to celebrate our successes as a team.
CMAG: What's unique about your firm? What sets it apart?
Our focus on getting stuck in and providing exposure to clients when individuals are ready sets us apart . Client work from the get go allows for huge personal growth, valuable experience and a higher level of team integration. It not only allows for our service offering to be of a higher standard but also our employees to learn key skills such as communication and adaptability faster over a wide variety of service offerings and industries.
Another differentiator is that we work to our values and are consistently improving towards them. Collaboration, integrity and delivery are not words we put on a shelf, but are standards we encompass in all aspects of our work. We hold a values review quarterly to ensure that they align with the priorities of our team, Clients and vision.
CMAG: What's the top priority over the next 6 to 12 months?
Over the next year, our focus is on growing with our staff. Deecon understand the pressure of being a consultant and supporting our colleagues with better resources, external support and also, bringing in new hires that can further support our growth plans is a key priority for Deecon. We are also focussing on growth without compromising our company culture, we have built a great company and will focus on stable growth to ensure we can retain the strong culture we have. Deecon have hit capacity at our Holland Park office and are excited about expanding offices which will support us through the next stage of our journey.
CMAG: When you look at the remainder of this year and 2024, what excites you? What opportunities do you see in your markets?
We have a number of opportunities on the horizon in a wide variety of industries, allowing us to further expand our reach and client base. This will also allow our team to explore new sectors and apply their expertise to exciting industries, including HS2, EV charging, Utilities and the provision of fibre broadband, which Deecon has the knowledge and expertise to support. We are always excited to see how the team members grow both within their career and as individuals, Deecon are looking forward to supporting our team on this journey. Deecon also have this year's away day coming up in September and a number of exciting events in the pipeline including the first Deecon led industry event.
CMAG: What impact do you think being a Best Firm to Work For has on the firm? Employees? Clients?
Being a Best Firm to Work for allows us to know we are following the ethos we claim. It provides us a guarantee that our employees are aligned to our organizational vison and values.
For our team it will offer the satisfaction to know they are part of a company competing with the best not only from an industry expertise and a technical viewpoint. It also gives a greater recognition to all of the great work and collaborative effort the team has produced for the last 12 months. Following our success last year we received the greatest volume of applications into our recruitment process, which we hope to continue to grow with this year's success.
Our team are the ones who give service to our clients, our Clients can be sure they will get the best service from a team who are industry experts and highly motivated to deliver. This has allowed us to build strong relationships with clients and we hope this to continue long into the future.
