CMAG: How would you say you've managed to stay among the industry's Best Firms to Work For amid these unprecedented times?

First, our adherence to our Core Values of Commitment, Common Sense, Communication, Personal Respect, Professionalism, and Teamwork are the foundation on which we take care of our people, service our clients, and make an impact in our communities.

Second, throughout the pandemic and its aftermath, we have remained committed to maintaining open dialogues among our leadership, employees, engagement teams, and clients.

With our Core Values guiding our decision making and a deep understanding of how our people were navigating the transition from remote to hybrid work, we have consistently reviewed, revised, and introduced new benefits, policies, and programs that address the varied needs of the different groups that we serve.

CMAG: Were there any specific programs or initiatives (internal or external) that contributed to you being a Best Firm to Work For?

While we made improvements across the board, one priority area over the last year was diversifying and expanding our leadership training capabilities. In 2022 and 2023, we launched a new program for newly promoted SVPs, a new leadership program for Directors and Partners focused on marketing, business development, and sales, and a three-week intensive for new MBA-graduate hires to help them integrate into our consultancy practices. In addition to these formal programs, we launched our "Catch the Wave" program, which contains targeted upskilling journeys related to key business priorities—from Power BI to Cryptocurrency to personal brand building.

Another notable initiative is Well@Work, our people-centered approach for promoting physical, mental, and financial health for our people. From GoJoe fitness challenges to seminars on fertility, Well@Work initiatives engage our employees with resources, events, and benefits that help them and their families to prioritize their wellness goals.

Finally, our global responsible business strategy has furthered our culture of inclusion in numerous ways, including increasing membership across our eight Employee Resource Groups to 65%, ongoing community giving and volunteerism with over 150 charity partners, and through sustainability efforts customized for each of our 25 offices.

CMAG: What's unique about your firm? What sets it apart?

We have an entrepreneurial culture, where individuals are encouraged to push boundaries, innovate, and take ownership of their careers. Our employees have the freedom to stretch themselves and embrace new challenges. We are committed to providing resources, support, and opportunities that enable them to thrive both personally and professionally.

We prioritize the well-being of our employees by offering a range of market-leading benefits and perks. We understand that a healthy work-life balance contributes to overall job satisfaction and enables individuals to perform at their best. Through our benefits package, we strive to provide our employees with financial security, healthcare support, and a supportive and inclusive work environment.

As noted above, we offer a comprehensive learning and talent development program designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in their roles and seize new opportunities as they arise. Investing in our employees' growth and providing them with ample learning opportunities is essential to their career success and ultimately contributes to the success of our organization.

CMAG: What's the top priority over the next 6 to 12 months?

We are working on several key initiatives, but our onboarding process is top priority because it touches every aspect of our business. We are reimagining our onboarding process from the recruiting stage through the employee's first year at the firm. By enabling more effective communication and collaboration across our organization, we will improve the talent integration experience for new joiners, achieve quicker time-to-productivity, and increase employee engagement.

This process will assist our employees in establishing meaningful connections throughout the company and gaining a deeper understanding of our culture. We want new hires to feel a strong sense of belonging at AlixPartners and be well positioned for success in their careers with us.

CMAG: When you look at the remainder of this year and 2024, what excites you? What opportunities do you see in your future?

Like our clients, we are operating in an environment of constant and intense disruption and change. This year has been exceptional in this regard. All companies and their people are contending with new and complex challenges – which is exactly when AlixPartners can provide the greatest value. For the past more than 40 years, we've been helping companies manage through and find opportunity in disruption, and we are seeing great demand from clients going forward into 2024. Challenging times are exciting times, and our people thrive in doing important work when it really matters.

CMAG: What impact do you think being a Best Firm to Work For has on the firm? Employees? Clients?

The impact of this recognition is significant. Being named a Best Firm to Work For, AlixPartners furthers the positive impact our people commit to making each day for our clients, our communities, our firm culture, and the planet by honoring their efforts and inspiring more action.

As a Best Firm to Work For, we can continue to attract and retain top talent to further our work as a results-driven global consulting firm with a passion for doing the right thing. The award also helps cultivate a sense of pride and belonging, which allows for safe and empowering experiences for our teams to deliver best-in-class service to our clients. That safety then promotes culture-building firmwide through connection among colleagues, partnership across teams, allyship, mentorship, and professional growth.

The recognition also helps us stay engaged and accountable. As a Best Firm to Work For, our clients trust us to pair them with motivated, energized, and well-resourced teams who can see them through even their toughest challenges. Similarly, our people expect personal respect, engaging work, competitive benefits and pay, and opportunities for success. We, as a firm, are proud to meet and even exceed those standards continuously, and we regularly solicit feedback from various stakeholders to evolve our strategy in these areas firmwide.
