What has been the biggest factor in your success so far?
Technology is never the problem. The critical success factor in any project is the people. Therefore, each solution needs to be considerate of the business, the brand and the consumer, the people the solutions serve. The biggest factor in my success has been the ability to work across functions to build the teams necessary to address solutions holistically for our clients and their clients.
What do you enjoy most about your career in the consulting industry?
The variety, speed and the ability to pay it forward. Waking up every day and having a new challenge, in a new industry, with a new client. It never gets dull. Working with clients at pace puts a reliance on producing results fast. Setting a plan, embedding KPI's to track the progress, building a Team, implementing a solution and coming together at the end of the day to look at the KPI's and see the impact is very motivating. Consulting and Digital is an ever-evolving field at the forefront of change, be it economic, political, social or technical. As such, you are constantly learning, adapting and exposed to new ideas, new techniques, and new thinking and in some small way contributing your store of experience to the collective tide of change.
What is your proudest achievement to date?
My son without a doubt, but honestly that achievement is all his. I can only be grateful that I managed to balance a career and single motherhood without giving him too many scars (TBD). Apart from that adopting early and then maintaining two mantras: Do 'good' business – always build in a social/environmental angle into all the business, client opportunities that come our way. Purpose is important. And 'Win as a Woman' – have the courage to win as a woman, enjoy being female and show that women, as women, can be successful.
What's the best advice you've ever been given?
Run yourself as a business. Never take the advice of someone you wouldn't want to become.
What does this recognition mean to you?
Firstly, it is a huge honor. Secondly, it provides support to extend my reach to effect greater change and role model the achievements and skills of women in this space
