2023 Global Leaders in Consulting: Cecilia Flatum

Cecilia Flatum is the managing partner for Deloitte Consulting, Norway. A balanced focus on people, purpose/planet and profit has always been her North star. With her nearly 20 years in the business, she is an important role models and spoke person for the Consulting industry. For 25 years, she has been working on improving the health care sector, and she shares this award with her clients. She has been leading several large health care transformation programs, and the latest was the national Corona Certificate project in Norway. In 2022, she received the recognized award ODA Woman for her life-long focus on DE&I.

Cecilia lives in Oslo with her partner Alexander and their 8 years old twin boys, and they enjoy windsurfing, snowboarding and skiing together. Her personal purpose is to empower people to act courageously to make a positive impact on our planet, and for the coming generations, whilst living a happy and healthy life with her family.

What do you consider your greatest personal or professional achievement?

In 2007, I was a manager at Deloitte. I got the opportunity to lead a big national health care transformation program. We were a fantastic team from graduates to very senior people. The program went on for three years and we delivered on time and budget, and developed good services for the citizens. And this work made me partner in Deloitte in 2010, the first female partner in Consulting Norway.

What advice would you give a professional just beginning a career in consulting?

Learn from every opportunity! Becoming good in something and finding a passion is about doing new things, but also do the same things over and over again. And work abroad early in your career!

What have you loved most about your consulting career?

The opportunity to work with talented and engaged people every day! What's the best advice—personal or professional—you've ever received Lean in and raise your hand.

What does being honored as a Global Leader mean to you? / The answer is probably a bit too long, so you can cut as needed.

Being a nominee for the Global Leader in consulting award is a true honor. I share this nominee with all my wonderful and dedicated colleagues at Deloitte, in Norway and globally. Success is always a team effort, and making a change require a village of people standing on a platform of a shared purpose and values. A balanced focus on planet, people and profit is my North star.

I truly believe that doing the right things and leading the way in an environment, where everybody can be themselves and thrive, creates strong results in all dimensions. I also share this nominee with my clients. For more than 20 years, I have been working on improving the health care sector. I have always worked very close with my clients, and we have been standing together shoulder-by-shoulder in ups and downs. Recently, one of my key clients won an award for our Covid-19 work. They shared the award with us in Deloitte and, I share this nominee with them. Finally, I share this nominee with my husband Alexander and our twin boys.

To succeed in consulting is also a team effort with your family. Together, we show that work-life integration is achievable, and it has not been possible without their support and flexibility. The nomination gives me an extra boost to continue my work!
