Excellence in Innovation

Wendy is a solicitor with more than 20 years of professional experience in the pharma/biotech sector. She is a leading legal expert within the life science industry, and has also built and managed in-house legal and compliance teams in several multinational organizations and knows firsthand the challenges managers face when a team member leaves, or there is a sudden unexpected surge in workload.

"The vision for Life Science Law grew out of a desire to solve the seemingly impossible challenge I had faced whilst working within the industry – obtaining immediate, ad hoc additional support from lawyers and compliance professionals with industry expertise"

What do you consider your greatest personal or professional achievement?

Something I'm proud of achieving is both professional and personal intertwined. Attending university and graduating with a degree, before qualifying as a solicitor while being a single mum with an 8-month-old son. I don't define anything as my greatest achievement, I believe we should always look forward and continue to strive and achieve greater things.

Personally, I like to challenge myself, climbing Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu, Everest base camp and a few months ago completing the London 2022 Marathon in 4hrs and 20 minutes are all achievements. Professionally, turning around failing teams in the workplace, I've found to be my most rewarding achievement, due to the positive impact this outcome has on others and the businesses I worked with.

What advice would you give a professional just beginning a career in consulting?

Above all, believe in yourself and your abilities, never accept "No" and keep your eyes wide-open as opportunities often arise where you are not focused, recognize and grab them!

What have you loved most about your consulting career?

The freedom to work in a way which I feel is most appropriate to achieve what needs to be done. Doing what needs to be done rather than ticking corporate boxes. Making a real difference to the working environments of our clients and often relieving overworked managers to fulfill their potential while staying sane and motivated.

What's the best advice—personal or professional—you've ever received

Be yourself. Be Authentic. Be transparent. Don't be afraid to hold your hands up when you need help!

What does being honored as a Global Leader mean to you?

I am overwhelmed to receive this award. It's fantastic to be recognized in this way, I continuously strive to be a good leader as I believe leading by example is the best and only way! Demonstrating a positive attitude and pragmatic approach which makes sense and brings people together along the journey is my style of leadership.
