What do you consider your greatest personal or professional achievement?
"One of my most proud personal achievements is being a first-generation college graduate, overcoming the financial and other socioeconomic hurdles to complete not only my undergraduate degree but also my MBA degree. I am able to take my experience and use it when mentoring other individuals facing similar hurdles to show them that it is possible to break through and create the future they envision. Professionally, being instrumental in helping to build the Press Ganey consulting business from the beginning to the organization it is today has been an amazing journey."
What's the best advice—consulting or otherwise—you've ever received?
"Early in my consulting career, a mentor encouraged me to look at every situation as an opportunity to learn. Sometimes it might be an opportunity to learn what "not to do" but you should always listen, engage and seek what you might take away from every encounter."
What advice would you give to a female consultant just beginning her career?
"Be open to those opportunities that may not necessarily fit your initial plan. When I started in the healthcare industry I was fully committed to becoming a leader in a healthcare organization and saw that as my one path. Consulting was not a career I had ever contemplated. Yet, the opportunity presented itself and I wouldn't change a thing 30 years later. Sometimes the best path has unexpected detours that might lead you to the path you needed to be on all along."
What does being recognized as a Consulting Woman Leader mean to you?
"This award is a great privilege given the women leaders I have encountered along my journey. I would be grateful to be recognized in this industry in which I am so passionate about the opportunities and the responsibility to help our clients grow and improve and would also be mindful of serving as an example for women in consulting."
