Excellence in Healthcare Industry
Age: 33
Ian is a Director in our Health Industries Advisory Delivering Deal Value practice and is helping to drive The New Equation at PwC and throughout our consulting profession.
Ian has supported nearly 100 deals ranging in value from $10 million to $13 billion, from due diligence through post-deal integration. He is at the forefront of developing actionable intelligence and helped develop PwC's COVID-19 Risk Predictor; utilizing public health data, transmission rates, and synthetic populations to model potential impacts.
He is a recognized leader at PwC and in the professional community: selected as PwC HIA Professional of the Quarter and part of the prestigious PwC Rising Stars program. He is also a Fellow of HFMA and an active member of ACHE and AHIMA, having held prior Treasurer positions.
Ian says this of his success to date, "Any of my success is directly attributable to my wife. She has afforded me the opportunity to travel all over the world to learn and grow as both an individual and a professional. Without her support, I would not be able to take advantage of the many opportunities that PwC and our Clients have offered me. I believe in the phrase "Happy wife, happy life," but I also think "Supportive wife, successful career" is true as well."
Asked about what he enjoys about his career Ian notes, "I tend to get bored quickly and the consulting industry allows me to remain stimulated and forces me to constantly 'step my game up' and rise to new challenges our clients are facing. Consulting in general, can be a grind. Long hours, time away from family, difficult Clients. But when I look back on my career, I want to be able to say that I tried to take advantage of as many opportunities as I could, learned as much as my brain would allow (ha-ha), and provided value to as many people as possible. In my opinion, the consulting industry puts me in the best position to achieve that."
Ian proclaims his proudest achievement to date is, "100% becoming a father to my son DJ. My wife Nicole and DJ are my foundation. Without a supportive family structure, I wouldn't be able to endure the long hours and stressful situations I often encounter. Having the ability to provide for my family by doing something I am passionate about is all that I can ask for."
What does this recognition mean to you?
"Candidly, the recognition would give me something to tell my son that daddy is doing a good job. He is about to turn 4 years old, and I want to be a good role model for him. I often must spend long hours and sometimes days away from him and I want him to know that it is because I am trying to be the best at what I do. My parents instilled the value of hard work for me at a very young age and I would be very proud if I can do the same for DJ. In my opinion, the only recognition that really matters comes from your family."
