CMAG: How would you say you've managed to stay among the industry's Best Firms to Work For amid these unprecedented times?

We stayed focused on our people. It was an unprecedented time of stress, and our number one priority was to help our CapTechers navigate through it. Our second priority was addressing the impact on our clients in a vast number of ways. We flexed to their needs. We reached out to proactively learn their challenges, shared ideas, and helped however possible. Operationally, we pivoted quickly in all of our processes and adapted to this new landscape in terms of staffing, remote work, and staying closely connected.

CMAG: Were there any specific programs or initiatives (internal or external) that contributed to you being a Best Firm to Work For?

Our culture and our people are what define us, and we have continued to find ways to strengthen both throughout these challenging times. Specifically:

We put our employees first, implementing new benefits including free access to Care.com (a service that helps find child, parent/grandparent, pet caregivers to balance demands at home) and a one-time-tax-exempt $1,000 reimbursement for reasonable and necessary expenses resulting from the pandemic.

We also launched what we call "CapFlex," designed to support a fully hybrid workforce and create an exceptional work and life experience for our CapTechers. CapTech's Employee Value Proposition has always centered on an "employee-first" mentality, and the pandemic led us to reimagine what that employee experience could look like.

We focused our attention on our cultural aspects, finding creative ways to infuse our culture into the new remote experience. For example, we hosted online events, including a virtual holiday party with celebrity entertainment. We also devoted significant time to enhancing virtual new hire onboarding and college internship experiences to welcome our newest CapTechers into our culture successfully.

We also continued to foster our CapTechers' creativity and innovative spirit through our Innovation Challenges program. This is one of our favorite opportunities to challenge our CapTechers with a theme and allow them to explore, build, and demonstrate their intellectual curiosity through amazing, creative solutions.

We completed a Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) roadmap and launched several new Employee Resource Groups. This roadmap, which includes focus domains, future aim points, and proposed measures to track progress, is an important tool in planning, executing, and communicating DIB actions throughout the organization. It will help us coordinate and prioritize our efforts as we evolve our DIB journey. In less than a year, we have launched three new Employee Resource Groups, providing safe environments for vulnerable, and sometimes even uncomfortable, conversations to take place. This last year really helped us focus and elevate our Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging efforts.

We remained heavily involved with our local communities, carrying on annual traditions such as our "Food Fight," which shattered previous years' records, raising funds to provide over 700,000 meals in our communities. We also created new traditions such as "Stress Less September" and "Week of Caring" with events focused on both self-care and community impact.

CMAG: What is unique about your firm? What sets it apart?

It comes down to our culture and our focus on our people. Our people deeply care for one another, and our employee-first mentality sets us apart from other consulting firms. We are a career destination for people who love consulting. Our innovative and collaborative culture demonstrates the depth and strength of our technical expertise and ability to deliver. This and our servant leadership style stand out to our clients.

CMAG: What's the top priority over the next 6 to 12 months?

Our future has never been brighter. We are coming out of 2020 stronger than ever and experiencing unprecedented client growth. We have new and exciting opportunities, and I see the next six to twelve months continuing to deliver exceptional results to our clients. We will continue to focus on maintaining and hiring top talent to join our team and serve our clients, and evolve our processes to be flexible as the world continues to respond post-pandemic and eventually (hopefully) stabilize to find "normal" again.

CMAG: When you look at the remainder of this year and 2022, what excites you? What opportunities do you see in your markets?

We are excited to look into the future, as we have built a firm for close to 25 years focused on delivering digital solutions in high demand. We are experts in digital innovation and execution and the pandemic delivered a message to our clients the imperative to take action. Our market-facing investments, including our PGA TOUR sponsorship, are leading to deeper relationships across the industries we serve, and we look forward to continuing to evolve with the digital economy as it unfolds. It's never been a more exciting time to be at CapTech. The pandemic was a challenge, but we are very optimistic for our future with an emphasis on deepening our industry expertise and emerging partnerships with Workday, Salesforce, and several others that provide exciting opportunities to help serve our clients and future growth.

CMAG: What impact do you think being a Best Firm to Work For has on the firm? Employees? Clients?

Being recognized as a Consulting Magazine Best Firm to Work For is a true honor and an important reflection of our mission, to be the best consulting firm to work for and to work with. This prestigious recognition validates that our CapTechers are in support of our mission, they see themselves as trusted advisors to our clients, and they are proud of the culture we are cultivating together. We will continue to position ourselves as the thought leaders, change-makers, and impactful problem solvers that our clients can depend on, and our communities will benefit from.
