The 2021 Women Leaders in Technology: Kelly Rozumalski

Rozumalski believes that women are still underrepresented in the technology field.  "However, it's recognition like this that helps us inspire each other, enable new ideas and creativity, and raise awareness to how important it is to create an inclusive workplace. Celebrating our success not only has a positive impact on women in technology careers but for all women in the workforce, helping everyone excel and reach their potential.  I am so proud to earn a Women Leaders in Technology award and continue to work to redefine the landscape for the next generation of female technology leaders."

Her passion for protecting the increasingly connected healthcare system is a professional and personal priority for her. "The ability to support the overtaxed healthcare industry during the COVID-19 Pandemic – through the prevention and response to cyber threats – has been my greatest honor and achievement." Embedding cybersecurity at the intersection of medicine, innovation, and technology has led to several critical outcomes including improved patient care and safety.  "Providing this support alongside a team and organization that continues to grow and deliver on its mission to advance women in their technology careers is extremely fulfilling."

Q&A: What unique challenges have you experienced being a female consultant in the technology field?

"In my role as a tech leader, I find that my viewpoint is unique since my worldview is based partially on my gender in a field dominated by males. This could be seen as a disadvantage but more often it's my advantage – I bring a perspective to a decision or problem that requires the entire team to introduce new thinking into a solution. Throughout my career I am regularly reminded of the fact that women bring a new perspective to the technology industry, and that our skills and ideas are highly valuable when we are confident enough to share them."
