A 40 year industry veteran, Patrick Scott's career is divided nearly down the middle, starting at Arthur Andersen, where he worked for over two decades. Since then, he's been a founding Managing Director at Protiviti for nearly 20 years. A wearer of many hats, he is currently Executive Vice President and leader of Protiviti's Loyal Client Program, which includes responsibility for the global industry program, global key account program, and global marketing. He also serves as the financial services global industry lead, the firm's largest industry practice, which has seen double-digit growth in the last three years.
Scott's wide range of ever-increasing responsibilities includes charing the Quality and Risk Management Committee, leading the Chicago market's practice, and leading the Central U.S. region, all while continually leading consulting engagements with large teams for some of Protiviti's largest global clients. Within the Global Key Account Program he oversees, Managing Directors are being developed into future leaders of the firm as they lead teams serving Protiviti's largest and most complex clients. Under his guidance, several emerging leaders have progressed to the firm's executive team.
Asked what the biggest key to his success has been so far, Scott points to unselfish leadership and the importance of listening.
"The biggest key to my success so far has been to openly listen and put others' needs before my own. I believe to be a good leader in our business you have to want to be of service to others," he says.
That same others-first attitude was reflected in what he cited as the greatest professional achievements in his career.
"My greatest personal achievements include helping others advance in their careers, whether clients or people within the firm. There is no better day professionally than letting someone know they have been promoted or have achieved success with a client."
Q&A: What does it mean for you, your firm and your clients to be named a Global Leader in Consulting?
"Nothing in our business happens without our clients and our people, so the fact that I am being honored as a Global Leader in Consulting is because I have been fortunate to work with great people and serve some outstanding clients. Both Protiviti and my clients have given me opportunities to make a difference and be in a position to provide leadership, which has personally been very rewarding."
