Vantage Point Consulting offers business consulting and IT professional services, including custom application development, focused on human capital development solutions. The firm's core industries include Federal Government and Higher Education. Vantage Point uses a human centered design approach to help clients accelerate innovations and solve problems. Consulting recently sat down with CEO Maria Cristina Carpenter to discuss the firm's success.
Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?
Carpenter: Vantage Point's growth trajectory is attributed to our focus on creating measurable value and putting our client's success first, and always. When we work with a client's leadership team we listen carefully to understand the organization's strategic objectives and work tirelessly to augment the client's team with the project leadership, agility, creativity, and technical know how to solve problems and create value that results in repurchasing and word of mouth referrals.
Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?
Carpenter: As of July 1st, 2020 Vantage Point is on pace with booked contracts to achieve a 10% growth rate from 2019, despite the challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2021? Where do you see the most opportunities?
Carpenter: In 2021 Vantage Point's outlook is strong. We have made several strategic hires over the past two years, adding Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics CRM consulting and implementation capabilities to our cloud-based application development expertise. In addition, we received an ED/SBIR grant from the Department of Education that funds a research and development of a new EdTech product we are working to bring to market later in 2021.
Consulting: What would you say are your firm's biggest challenges in 2021?
Carpenter: Our largest challenges in 2021 center around recruiting top talent from around the country who may feel "safer" at a large consulting firm, from which we tend to recruit. Those that take the leap of faith and join Vantage Point have loved the entrepreneurial culture and flat organizational structure that rewards innovation and creativity above all else.
Consulting: What does being named a Fastest Growing Firm mean to your firm, employees and clients?
Carpenter: The biggest challenge for any firm is earning the trust of a new client to give your firm the opportunity to prove its value. Clients that entrust us with a strategic engagement, a single design thinking workshop, or one small rapid application development effort are delighted by our delivery work and dedication to their success. Being named one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms helps shine a brighter light on our work so that we can earn the trust of future clients and continue to recruit top talent. Our strong growth is a testament to the value we bring to our clients and our successful formula for delivering innovation. We are proud of that growth. We are also proud to be a woman, veteran, and minority owned business that attributes much of its success to the diversity of talent we employ. We see the diversity of our team as critical to our diversity of ideas and innovation delivered to our clients.
